French 2D Designs 'Dinner Cozy,' an Immersive Dining Experience

Los Angeles, CA —'Dinner Cozy', designed by French 2D, encourages collective conversations through a tablescape with agency. The tablecloth provokes dialogue with embedded provocations while also physically embracing dinner guests, drawing them closer to one another with novelty and humor.

The tablescape is made up of two layers of cloth. The bottom layer, a sinuous metallic fabric, can be draped over chairs, worn as a lightweight shawl, or bustled to give the table even more character. The top layer creates a backdrop of printed pattern for dining and prompts conversation with fellow guests through provocations and connections written across the textile. Together they invite play and camaraderie.

THIS X THAT commissioned Jenny and Anda French of French 2D to design the table setting for their annual Women in Architecture Dinner event, in an effort to cultivate a more intentional, collective conversation. The event was meant to take place on March 19, 2020 on the pool deck at The Standard, Hollywood and include local thought leaders in art, architecture, design and film; it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please stay tuned for an announcement of the rescheduled date.
